DeepFakeAI is the very first of its kind on the internet. Many of its users’ creations have gone viral, fueling its rapid growth. But how did we get here? Let’s explore DeepFakeAI’s history.
DeepFakeAI’s Official Launch
On May 2023, DeepFakeAI was launched. The launch included its official website and token, Telegram bot, and the first cast of usable characters: Donald Trump, Joe Rogan, and Andrew Tate. Shortly after, a WebApp teaser was revealed, marking the starting point of the project.
The project immediately caught the eye of users and projects alike. Right after its launch, DeepFakeAI was added to CoinMarketCap and Coingecko, was mentioned for the first time in a Yahoo press release, and hosted its first AMA with “Gollum’s gems”. A new payment model was launched, enabling users to buy minutes to use the platform, and a Web API was introduced so developers could incorporate DeepFakeAI into their websites.
Right after that, the Discord server went live, and the first DeepFakeAI whitepaper was released. During this time, all the initial characters also received a small update, paving the way to the project’s bright future.
Gaining Momentum
The project gained attention from news portals and influencers, and even had a video game appearance. Clearly, during its early months DeepFakeAI made a strong impact and got worldwide attention. In August 2023, the impact increased as the project appeared for the first time in Binance’s feed and was highlighted in many press articles, like Investing, Crypto News, Chain Review, Globe Echo, Yahoo, and more.
On September, the official YouTube channel went live and the project’s first official AMA was hosted, entirely made with deepfakes; also, the voting system was changed to DAO voting on the website, adding another use-case to the token. During this time, the project received important mentions from CoinMarketCap, Crypto News, and Yahoo.
By the end of the month, with barely 100 days live, the project had already generated almost 20k videos, over 1k holders, and almost 2.5k members on Telegram.
A FIAT on-ramp integration was incorporated on November, enabling users to buy minutes with FIAT, along with other small website updates. Another huge improvement was also made around this time: holders with less than 1,000,000 tokens could now generate deepfakes based on a holding tier list.
During December, DeepFakeAI’s videos exploded: a user-made video of Greta Thunberg that went viral, gaining over 20 million views, as well as Joe Rogan himself mentioning that video. Also, Snopes and Crypto News talked about the viral video made with our technology.

By the end of 2023, over 25k videos were generated via Telegram Bot and over 10k via web app, marking the huge interest the community had in our deepfake technology. But that was just the beginning. 2024 was about to bring DeepFakeAI to a whole new level…
2024, A Great Year for DeepFakeAI
After the success that 2023 meant for DeepFakeAI, this new year would see the finalization of major improvements to the project: In early 2024, a new HD lypsync model was introduced (at that time, available only for large holders) along with the updated uncensored version of the “/ask” function, and many new characters were added in January-February through our holders’ votes.
A notable mention: Vitalik uploaded deepfakes generated through our platform and mentioned their high quality.
In March, FakeAI went live on MEXC, and users’ creations kept going viral, such as a Janet Yellen video reaching almost 1.5M views. A Coingecko mention of FakeAI as one of the best performing tokens, and a mention by Andrew Tate on his podcast showed the growth, validity, and interest in the project in 2024.
New improvements were made for user experience by merging the Dapp and App into a single platform, along with the integration of Google and X APIs for easier registration and login. Updates on the pricing and token pages, along with some bug fixes, marked the end of March, along with new characters that were released.
In April, DeepFakeAI went live on Gate, and in May, the long-awaited DIY character feature went live, allowing users to create their own deepfake characters. The v2 of the whitepaper was released, and by the end of May, the “Explore” tab was introduced, allowing members to share and discover new custom characters. In June, the price for custom character creation was lowered by 50%, and a rating system was added so users could give thumbs up or down to characters.
July marked another major milestone where we hit 10k followers on X. And a huge new feature was also introduced: fine-tuning, allowing users to enhance their deepfake creations.
Advancements continued—doubling video generation speed and slightly enhancing lip-sync quality. These updates ensured a more efficient experience for DeepFakeAI users.
Bright Future Ahead
Nowadays, DeepFakeAI has surpassed 81,5k videos generations, 8,8k users and is actively training a new Zero-Shot Model to further enhance voice cloning in our deepfakes. Our community also produced 80 custom DIY characters.
The future looks bright for DeepFakeAI. As the project continues to evolve and grow, it will open new possibilities for everyone who wishes to stay at the forefront of deepfake technology.
